I really don't have any suggestions right now but there is one thing that seemed to be missing in the club when I started that other clubs have had. I know it sounds corny, but has anyone ever though of doing something like minutes of the meetings. If we do discuss the business part of the club any info or suggestions can be written down and then posted for those who missed the meeting to read and if they have something to add they can. I feel this would keep the business part down on time a lot and semi solve the whole "what was discussed at the last meeting cause I missed it" problem.

I would be willing to do this if it is decided to go this route, 1)It would give me a "I have an important duty at the club, I must go" excuse and 2)I would not mind it one bit. My only thing is when the meeting might fall on a holiday like they did this past weekend since it is mandatory to work on holiday weekends but I'm sure someone could take over for just a meeting.

I completely agree with the two of you.
Changes /need/ to be made.
And I don't think it should just be once a year, but rather we should start changing things more often to keep everything interesting.

Like Meghan said, the lack of emphasis on the anime itself, is completely true. BUT. I don't think that just sitting around watching series is the best way to fix this. So, Autumn, how do you propose we fix this? Honestly, I have no clue. That's why I'm definitely going to make it to the next meeting with a list of my own brainstorming.

But as for the business part, I think it would be better to get everything addressed online, maybe newsletters to the clubs e-mails would be good for that? That way, you can get everything that is set in stone distributed, and if something needs to be discussed as a club, it can go on the forum.

And though, I too, am guilty of a dead blog, most everyone knows my current situation, and with all of that, I've been trying to organize so many other things in my life, I've not had the time to tend to my blog, though I plan to now that it's summer.

One thing though, that I just thought of, is maybe bringing the forums to life? Like we could maybe start playing games or discussing anime and such at the meetings themselves?
Like the Anime ABC's game, we could probably bring that to life at the meetings somehow or another.

And I'm not proposing we turn the meetings into the Nekos and Chopsticks forum (Though, in reality, that's what the meetings seem to be a living example of right now o.o) (...and I know I'm guilty for a lot of it)

Possibly, we've gotten too hyped up over AWA and turned the meetings into that, like you said, Ace.

I really understand now why you've been trying to remain so calm about it at the meetings and such. I'm now trying to follow your example. I can unleash my excitement all I want to on the forum, and at home, but it got unnecessary to do it so frequently at the meetings, and I'll take the blame for getting a lot of the hype initiated.

But like I said, I'll brainstorm.

So, yeah.
I'm totally guilty of one of the dead blogs.
I don't have nearly enough time for a lot of things anymore :/ I don't even really have time to post in the forums that much anymore (except for today since I'm sick and wasn't able to work).
I also had to miss the last meeting because of work - I'm hoping I'll be able to get the next Saturday off to make it to that one.
I really don't want to be someone who doesn't come to the meetings. I love the meetings.

I do see your point with all of this, though.
Is it weird to say that our club is lacking..anime?
I mean, yes we do watch some anime episodes during [most] meetings, but it feels like there's lack of emphasis on anime itself.
I know that sounds silly, and I know that we couldn't possibly just sit around and watch anime all day, but I just feel like things would be a lot funner if we watched a little more, maybe even something like AMVs or whatever other people in the club are up for.

I don't want this club to die. I know that no one said that it is or has even really made reference to that, but it seems like the club is in somewhat of a slump, and I think we all enjoy it too much for that to continue happening.

Unfortunately, I really don't have any suggestions at the moment. I haven't ever run a club or anything before, but maybe as a group (if we can all ever been in the same place at the same time >.<) we could throw out ideas on what would make the club more fun while still getting everything done that needs to be done.

You know, thinking on this, it may be have been better to kind of pick people out to ask a question. I mean ask like one question to three or four people specifically to get their answers. I find this usually helps when people hear another person's thoughts or ideas told first, that others tend to open up. Almost like a college class discussion.

@Kaishu: "The other thing I’ve noticed is, its hard to get people to talk about an anime after watching it sometimes. This is primarily my fault. I’ve realized I have no idea what questions I should be asking aside from “So, what did you all think of that?” and obviously that yields little to no results."

That being said, there really are no good questions to ask when trying to do something like this.

I think with the group review idea, to get anything out of it that's postable it would have to be closely guided. In other words maybe formulate a template of questions to ask everyone after the showing. That way everyone is focusing on the same aspect of what we are talking about instead of just all of the chatter.

@allan8d8: It was a good idea, but to say that the problems are due to setbacks at every meeting is an excuse. We've had several meetings where it went through as planned, and still nothing came out of it in the end.

It was a good idea for a panel, but it has just suffered setback and issues at every meeting.
